If Your Body Could Speak, What Would She Say?

Picture this. You’re sitting in a movie theater, watching the latest rom-com. The lighting is perfect, the chemistry is electric, and the plot is unfolding just how you hoped… until it happens.

The main character picks the wrong guy.

You can feel it in your bones. You want to jump out of your seat and yell, “No! Don’t do it. Don’t pick him. You always do this. Pick the one who’s actually right for you!”

We’ve all been there. Watching someone ignore every red flag, every gut instinct, every quiet whisper of truth.

And here’s the thing: your body is doing the exact same thing. Screaming at you. Begging you to listen. Just in ways that aren’t always as obvious as a dramatic plot twist on the big screen.

Let me explain.

Looking back, I can see the signs were there a full year before I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. My body wasn’t whispering, it was shouting.

But I brushed it off.

I blamed stress. Told myself I was just a little off. Kept pushing through like we’re all taught to do.

And in case you’re new here, let me be clear: this is a wellness space where we don’t sugarcoat things. So yes, we’re going to talk about pooping.

Let’s get this out of the way—girls poop. And your bowel movements? They’re one of the clearest blueprints of your overall health. It’s time we paid attention.

Mine were all over the place. I’ll spare you the details, but nothing about it was normal. And still, I ignored the signs.

Then I got a bizarre infection in my hand. No cut, no injury, nothing. The ER doctors were stumped. I couldn’t even move my fingers. My body was literally waving a red flag in my face.

Once that cleared, my ankles started swelling. After workouts, during hot weather, for seemingly no reason at all. I brushed it off.

I wish I hadn’t.

By the time I sought medical help, I could barely walk. I had lost 25 pounds. My joints were so inflamed I couldn’t bend my knees. I couldn’t be far from a bathroom without the fear of not making it. I was so severely anemic I was days away from needing a blood transfusion.

My body had had enough. It shut down the only way it knew how — completely and without apology.

So let me ask you this: Why do we wait so long to listen?

Once I finally learned how to tune in, it was like someone handed me the script I’d been missing. The one where my body was the main character all along. And it had been trying to tell me exactly what it needed.

Listening to your body doesn’t mean skipping drinks because you overdid it last night. It means getting honest about what you actually need. It means slowing down. Saying no without guilt. Choosing a rhythm that honors your energy instead of keeping up with everyone else’s pace.

Because here’s the truth: your nervous system needs that rhythm. Your body needs time to rest and digest. You cannot operate in fight-or-flight forever and expect to feel vibrant, focused or aligned.

So think about it. The tension in your neck. The recurring headaches. The gut issues you call “just stress.” The skin flare-ups. The insomnia. The fatigue you can’t shake.

What if none of that is random?

What if every symptom is a signal?
Every ache is a whisper?
Every flare is your body asking you to stop repeating the same patterns?

Your physical body and your emotional body are not separate.
Heal your mind. Heal your body.
Listen early. Not when it's too late.

This is your plot twist moment.
Don’t choose the wrong guy. Don’t choose the same cycle.

Choose yourself.

If you’re ready to finally understand what your body has been trying to say, you’re not alone. Let’s navigate this journey together.
