The Real Role of a Health Coach — And Why You Might Need One
I feel like people have all sorts of ideas about what we do, so let’s clear it up and give you the real scoop.
What is a health coach, really?
At the core, we’re experts in guiding change. We aren’t miracle workers who show up with all the answers or a magic wand to fix your health overnight. Nope. Absolutely not.
Think of health coaches as your personal bridge.
You’re standing on one side — where you are right now, feeling stuck or overwhelmed or just plain tired of trying to make things work.
On the other side? That awesome version of you, living your healthiest, strongest, most balanced life.
My job is to help you cross that bridge.
Coaches help you see your world differently. Because when you start to see your world through a new lens, your world literally changes.
And when your world changes, you show up differently.
How do we do that?
By helping you figure out where to start and what realistic shifts you can make that stick — not the latest fad but something sustainable that fits your life.
Here’s the important part:
Our support is both evidence-based and experience-based. We’re not here to diagnose anything or treat medical issues. That’s for doctors and therapists. Our role is totally different — we’re the cheerleaders, strategists and accountability partners who keep you moving forward when life gets messy.
You know those moments when you know what you want to do — eat better, move more, sleep more but somehow, it just doesn’t happen?
That’s exactly where coaching comes in.
We help you bridge that gap between knowing and doing.
We don’t just focus on kale smoothies or workouts (though those might come up). We look at all parts of wellness — physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, even your environment.
Because real wellness is a whole ecosystem that needs balance to really thrive.
Now, think about who usually has coaches — athletes, CEOs, even movie stars. They’re not hiring coaches because they need to be taught their craft. Nope. They’re hiring coaches to help them integrate that craft into their games, their businesses or their big moments on stage.
And guess what? That’s exactly what a health coach can do for you. You already know what to do — you’ve probably Googled all the things, read the articles, watched the videos. But the harsh truth is if you knew how to fit all that info into your real life, you wouldn’t be here.
I’m not here to compete with Google. I can absolutely teach you stuff but the magic is in the doing — and that’s where coaching shines.
I’m here to help you use what you know and to turn that knowledge into action.
And let’s talk about what we’re not.
We’re not your therapist, so we focus on the present and the future. I’m not here to unpack your past! And we aren’t your best friend, so don’t expect to be coddled.
I’m your coach.
That means I will push you, challenge you and yes — sometimes nudge you right outside your comfort zone. Because guess what? On the other side of comfort is where the real magic happens.
Health coaching is a broad profession. Other coaches might do it differently. And that’s totally okay.
But this? This is how I see it and how I show up.
So, if you’re ready to start crossing that bridge, I’m here.
